Author Guidelines
1. Submitting An Article
Erdem journal uses the Publication Tracking System (YAYSİS) developed and made available by Atatürk Supreme Council of Culture, Language and History for article application and evaluation processes. There are no date restrictions for article submission.
Submission of articles to Erdem journal and the monitoring of all subsequent processes are done though the adress: https://giris.ayk.gov.tr/signin Authors and referees who are not members of the system are required to complete their membership procedures via https://giris.ayk.gov.tr/signin
Authors who completed the membership process will choose Presidency of Atatürk Culture Center as Institution , and Erdem as the journal. The requested information about the article and the author is entered into the system correctly. PDF and word format of the article as well as the bibliography should be uploaded. The letter of commitment text must be approved digitally. This approval substitutes as wet-ink signature.

2. Preliminary Review of the Article
All the articles submitted through YAYSİS go through the following stages:
2.1.Editorial board checks the suitability of the article to the ERDEM Journal Publishing Principles, the task scope of the Institution, and the subject area of the journal. Articles that do not meet these criteria are returned by the editors to the author along with the grounds. The author, taking into account the warnings made to him, can make his article in accordance with the criteria and re-submit an article application to the journal. This stage is compleated within 7-10 days.
2.2 The articles that have passed the editorial review and are deemed appropriate are referred to the relevant Institution experts depending on the subject area for evaluation in terms of scientific competence. Te experts of the institution express their opinions about the article and the referee recommendations (2 permanent referee, 2 reserve referee) they have determined in accordance with the subject area by filling out the Article Pre-Review Form and present it to the ERDEM Journal Editorial Board. The expert pre-examination stage is completed within 7-10 days.
The plagiarism check of the article is done automatically via intihal.net by YAYSİS when the article is uploaded to the system. The similarity rate cannot exceed 20%.
3. Erdem Journal Editorial Board Review
3.1 Assembled in accordance with the intensity of the journal agenda, the ERDEM Journal Editorial Board evaluates the article text in terms of scientific qualification criteria, taking into account the "Article Preliminary Examination Form" prepared by the expert of the Institution.
The Editorial Board may decide to “Refer to the Referee” or “Reject” the article after its review.
According to the decision of the Board, the article is sent to the 2 designated referees by the editorial board, or the author is notified of the “Rejection” decision.
Royalty Payments
ERDEM journal is prepared and published using public resources; it does not charge authors fees, pays authors and referees royalties in accordance with the provisions of the "Copyright, Publication and Sales Regulation of the Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History" (https://www.ayk.gov.tr/s12-mevzt/c37-yoenetmelikler/telf-hakki-yayin-ve-sati-yoenetmel/).
The journal does not charge any fee from article applicants regarding the application or other processes, but a review fee is charged to authors who withdraw their text during the evaluation process without a compelling reason to be accepted by the Editorial Commission / Board of Directors.
Referee Guidelines
Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History affiliates (AKMB, ATAM, TDK, TTK) use YAYSIS for refereeing as well as for all publication processes. Scientists who are experts in the fields of social sciences who want to be referees / reviewers for the processes of books and articles may sign up to the system using the link https://giris.ayk.gov.tr/signin Those whose membership has been approved by the Institution administrations can be appointed as an referee/reviewer according to their areas of expertise.
The names of the referees who have completed the review task for the published articles are published in the December issue of ERDEM journal.
The Refereeing Process
ERDEM journal uses the "Blind Refereeing System". Authors and referees cannot have information about each other until the article process is completed.
The referees can make a “approval”, “rejection” or “correction” decision for the article. The authors complete the requirement of the “correction” reports sent to them via the system within 1 month and upload the corrected version of the article to the system.
If the article receives 2 "refusals", it will not be printed and the arbitration process will be terminated. The article that receives 1 “approval” 1 “rejection” is sent to the third referee.
Publication of Articles
If the article receives 2 "approvals" from the referees, the article is published in the appropriate issue according to the publication plan with the recommendation and decision of the Editorial Board of Erdem Journal and the approval of the Board of Directors of Atatürk Supreme Council of Culture, Language and History.
Each article published in the journal is given a DOI (Digital Object Identifier System) number, and the ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) number of the authors is published in the author information.
