Artificial Intelligence Policy
Ethical Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies
Our journal acknowledges that artificial intelligence (AI) and generative AI technologies can be used as supportive tools in scientific research and publishing processes. However, these technologies cannot assume the scientific and ethical responsibilities of researchers, editors, or reviewers. The use of artificial intelligence must be conducted in accordance with the principles of transparency, accuracy, accountability, privacy, and research ethics at all stages.
General Principles
• Artificial intelligence applications do not meet authorship criteria and therefore cannot be listed as authors.
• If artificial intelligence has been used for purposes such as research, analysis, text generation, translation, language editing, or visual production, this must be appropriately disclosed.
• Any content, data, figures, tables, or visuals generated by artificial intelligence must undergo user review.
• The accuracy and reliability of information produced by artificial intelligence systems are the responsibility of the users.
• Work containing personal data, subject to confidentiality obligations, or not yet published should not be uploaded to AI platforms.
• The use of AI must comply with current research ethics, publication ethics, and data protection regulations.
Principles Regarding Authors
Authors must:
• Clearly state the AI tools used in preparing the work and their intended purposes.
• Must verify text, analyses, source recommendations, visuals, or other outputs generated by artificial intelligence and make necessary corrections.
• Must not list artificial intelligence applications as co-authors.
• Must not use artificial intelligence to generate fabricated data, fake citations, misinformation, or misleading visuals.
• They must act in compliance with obligations regarding copyright, data security, and the protection of personal data.
• They must accept full responsibility for the entire content of the article and its scientific accuracy.
Principles Regarding Reviewers
Reviewers must:
• Not upload articles, supplementary files, or information related to the peer review process to AI tools for the purpose of evaluation.
• Must maintain the confidentiality of the peer review process and must not share information with third parties.
• Must conduct their scientific evaluations in accordance with their own expertise and academic background.
• Must not use recommendations from artificial intelligence in place of their final evaluation.
• If they identify any potential ethical violations related to the use of artificial intelligence during the review process, they must notify the editorial board.
Principles for Editors
Editors must:
• Make all decisions regarding the publication process in accordance with scientific quality, ethical principles, and journal policies.
• Not share manuscript files, reviewer reports, or other confidential documents with artificial intelligence systems.
• Evaluate the adequacy of statements regarding the use of artificial intelligence and request additional clarification when necessary.
• They must conduct the necessary review processes when there is suspicion of potential ethical violations, data manipulation, or misleading content resulting from AI.
• If AI use contrary to publication ethics is identified, they must take action in accordance with COPE principles and journal policies.
Declaration of Artificial Intelligence Use
Authors must disclose the name of the system used, its version (if applicable), and the purpose of its use in an appropriate section of the article if they utilize artificial intelligence tools in their work. Artificial intelligence applications used for language editing, translation, or technical support must also be disclosed in accordance with the principle of transparency.
