Abstract

The Kırıkkilise village is located 135 km. to Kahramanmaraş, and 35 km to the Göksun District. It was previously in the boundaries of Adana's Saimbeyli District, but it was included into the Kahramanmaraş's Göksun District in 2000, and its name was changed to Kaleboynu. It is well known that weaving was common there in the ancient times and especially flat weavings were commonly produced. Nowadays the number of weavers was reduced to almost nil. The weaving samples represented old times rarely exist even in the houses of local people. The weavings examined in this study were weaved fordowry in the Kırıkkilise Village in 1955 and preserved in good condition until today. The aim of this article is to determine technical, color, pattern and design characteristics of four samples of flat weavings to have a general knowledge about weavings of the period.
