Abstract

In this article, I will discuss Sâfî's Hasbıhâl-i Sâfî, written in the 16th century, by comparing it to Atayî's Hamse and Nâbî's Hayriye in terms of professions and bribery. These works display that bribery appears when people working at bureaucratic and juridical professions want to obtain a position and it penetrates almost into the whole institution. Sâfî criticizes bribery by using the power of religion and social norms.
