Abstract

The economic and political difficulties in the Ottoman Empire gave rise to emigration movements especially from the late 19th century on, and in most of these cases, which were different from the usual policies in this respect, the destination was America, also known as the "New World". The focus of this study is on the emigration to the continent of America in the early 20th century particularly in the light of reports of economic and cultural issues sent by the Ottoman Consulate in Argentina. We looked into the reasons and lives of the Ottoman subjects who had emigrated to the regions mentioned in these reports as researches into such emigration cases will reveal not only the circumstances of the period but also the existence and family roots of such groups of Ottoman descent.
