Atatürk and Polıtıcal Ethıcs

Abstract

Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey and the creator of Turkish society through his revolutions, carried out ideal behaviors for new and old administrators and politicians and he took care to implement ethics in politics as well.

He tried to initiate multiple party democratic life twice, in 1924 and 1930, in order to settle popular sovereignty in the Republic of Turkey vvhich he found on the basis of the principle that "Sovereignty pertains to the public unconditionally and absolutely". While the Constitution in 1924 was being formed, he did not prefer to locate the provision for him to be elected for Presidency for lifetime and he chose to be elected as the President by GNAT (Grand National Assembly and Turkey) in 1927, 1931 and 1935.

İn this article, some of hundreds of incidents that shovv how important political ethics was in Atatürk's life are discussed and present politicians are informed about this subject.
