Abstract
The novel Cassandra's Brand by Chinghiz Aitmatov has a different place compared with his other novels with regard to its subject and fiction. In this novel, the author makes predictions for the tragic end of humankind by making references to mythological heroine, Cassandra. The main purpose of literary research is to generate sources for literature, to introduce authors and their works to the audience and to produce an aesthetic pleasure among the readers. The other aspect of literary research includes the relation between the author and his works. Mihail Bahtin, a prominent art critic and theoretician in the twentieth century, examines relations between the author and his works using diverse ways in his books and articles. He discusses the issues involving to what extent the text is affected by its author. Bahtin argues that an author sometimes flows in his text's dialogues and sometimes flows in the text's chronotope. Therefore, in this paper, the Cassandra's Brand will be examined in terms of time and place relation considering the concept of chronotope in the context of relation between the author and its work.
