Abstract

Safranbolu, known as Paphlagonia in the ancient times, draws attention with the abundance of its water resources and the styles of water usage. Besides standart usage in the kitchen and bathrooms, water has a privileged Usage especially in the ponded rooms to reflect the prestige of the owner in the traditional Safranbolu Houses. This study examines the ponded rooms and ponded halls, as the examples of indoor use of water, and the ponded rooms built in the yard, independent of the house in traditional Ottoman residence architecture
