The Christianization (Missionary Activities) and Russianization in the Works of Ayaz Ishaki

Abstract

Ayaz Ishaki published for the popular development of knowledge, with the aim of educating the people and awakening of public consciousness. In his works, he dealt with Russianization and Christianization of the Tatar population as a basic political theme. This study attempts to to evaluate the subject of Christianization and Russianization through the analysis of Ayaz Ishaki's play "Züleyha". The study also handles the history of Christianization and Russianization policies that applied to the Tatar people. In the works of Ishaki, it is sometimes satirized apparently or indirectly that the Russian Tsardom oppressed the Tatar people for centuries.
