In this paper, history teaching in Turkish primary and secondary educationalinstitutions has been placed in focus, after ştressing the signifıcanse of "history" and "historyeducation" in individual and national levels. Espacialy fundamental problems of, history teaching methods, information technology usage in history teaching, cirriculum, tex books and the historical approach in them, and "consepts" problem in history teaching have been discussed along with a number of proposal for possible solitions, in comparison with some applications in modem westem countries.
