Abstract

Dictionaries have undergone four basic stages since the ages people made dictionaries and used them. These stages can be listed as follows: “Stone dictionaries” (antiquity dictionaries), non-print dictionaries (oral dictionaries), print dictionaries (conventional dictionaries), electronic dictionaries (Internet age dictionaries). All items related to dictionaries have changed in time as a result of the stages mentioned above. In this age, we experienced the shift from print dictionaries to e-dictionaries, and the dictionary users have become active among many changes. The aim of this article is to probe the relationship between the dictionary and its user that has reshaped as a result of change, employing basic concepts, and discuss certain problems.
