Abstract

Classical Turkish literature that is a branch of classical Islamic literature, uses figures of speech as other literatures do. However it is not possible to argue that such figures of speech are examined properly. Allusion, does not function just as a figure of speech. It contains word-level to compound discourse, and at the same time contributes to construct a literary tradition by using some apparatuses such as memory, intertextuality, and economy of narration. Thus, it is possible to consider allusion as a medium that construct tradition, besides being a figure of speech.
