Abstract

It is understood that Peyami Safa's 1932 novel Attila was written under the effects of Marcel Brion's work Attila published in France in 1928 and translated into Turkish in 1931. This article examines how Peyami Safa have fictioned an Attila personality, how appropriate this fiction was to Attila's known historical personality, and to what degree Marcel Brion's work and this novel have similarities and differences. This study also tries to respond the question if Peyami Safa's Attila was related to the Turkish history thesis in the 1930s.
