The Idealist Youth and Their Common Characteristics in the Novels of Peyami Safa

Abstract

Peyami Safa emphasized the youth and problems of youth in both his literary and intellectual works through his observations and his artistic and intellectual capacity. In addition he included young individuals in his novels and compared the young people with positive and negative characteristics in relation with the public atmosphere during that time. It is possible to say that in terms of their ideas, actions, life styles and goals some young individuals we analyzed in this study through the novels of Peyami Safa are idealist individuals. The novel characters described as idealists have been analysed one by one and it is determined that these characters have common and similar points in terms of their education, growing up conditions, family structures, characteristic features, values and problems they encounter in social life.
