The Place of Cumbadan Rumbaya in the Writings of Peyami Safa

Abstract

Cumbadan Rumbaya is one of Peyami Safa's novels that were signed under his pen name, "Server Bedii". Researchers have tended to consider this novel as "popular" and disregard its importance in Safa's literary works. Yet, it is possible to see the traces of his mastery in novel writing among his novels that were signed under the name of Server Bedii. Cumbadan Rumbaya is an exceptional work among Safa's novels with its focus on certain issues as well as with the way these issues are treated. In this paper, the importance of Cumbadan Rumbaya is discussed with an emphasis on the qualified literary aspects of the novel.
