Abstract

In this article, we have analized how mathematical notations were used by Gelenbevî who was the last represent among scholars solving problems by using the classsical mathematical methods. Also we have investigated development of mathematical notation system in both Islamic world and Europe. According to the results we have found, mathematical notation system had been founded in the Islamic world nearly hundred years earlier than Europe, and it had been continued to develop until the 18th century. So Gelenbevî applied the best forms of mathematical symbols in his book titled Hisâb el-Küsûr peculiar to Islamic world.
