Abstract
Attending the team of Austrian Ambassador Busbecq, who was appointed by the King Ferdinand 1 to talk over the Iran war with Kanuni (Suleyman the Magnificient), to pay the annual tax and to hold a parley, German traveler Hans Dernschwam visited İstanbul with the desire to see the capital city of the Ottoman Empire in 1553. However, Dernschwam went to Amasya since Sultan Süleyman was there at that time (7 April - 2 June 1555). This study provides information about the life o the traveler and his travel book, and his views of Ankara, which he visited on 28-30 March 1555 on his way to Amasya.
