Mysticism in Peyami Safa's World of Ideas and Art

Abstract

Peyami Safa did not only write novels important with regard to their characteristics of form but also significant for their rich and deep content manifested a broad intellectual background. It is seen that the concepts of civilization and ethics constituted the main axis in almost all of these novels. Quests taking place in author's world of ideas led to expansion and completion of his opinions related to the issues of ethics and civilization on account of mysticism and this case reflected to his novels. Matmazel Noraliya'nın Koltuğu (Mademoiselle Noraliya's Armchair) and Yalnızız (We Are Lonely) are novels, where mysticism takes place and is explained as a worldview.
